Rounds two and three were surfed in the Hurley Burleigh Pro Junior and it was the top seed Stuart Kennedy that stood out among the competitors.
Kennedy made it through to round four with ease, beating Jack Freestone, Hamish Willem and Tim Bilmon in his heat.
"I felt really relaxed out there. I've had a great start to the year and I'm feeling good…It's actually the first heat I've ever progressed through at Burleigh," Kennedy told Surfing Australia.
The 18-year old clinched the heat with the highest heat total of the morning, scoring 16.67 out of 20.
International surfers on display also faired well with Tamaroa McComb, Osawa Noubuyuki, Billy Stairmand and Peterson Cresanto all impressing in the excellent conditions.
The Hurley Burleigh Pro Junior is an eight star rated tournament and is in its second year. Kenndedy is the favourite to win the event after clinching the season's first title at the Pro Junior in Victoria last week.
