The top seeded surfers put the youngsters back in their place on day four of the Roxy Surf Festival as experience shone through in solid conditions.
Although the early rounds had been dominated by the junior surfers, the experienced campaigners took charge in round four, with top seed Samantha Cornish leading the charge.
Cornish told Surfing Australia: "The juniors are surfing really well, I won't take anything away from them, but I think they still need to step it up. They have a lot to prove until they surf on the WCT level and I feel that while I am not overly pushing myself in my heats, the juniors are giving it all they've got."
Yesterday's form surfer, 16 year-old Laura Enever, was knocked out by Cornish as Fransisca Santos and the world number four progressed from their heat.
World number eight Jessi Miley-Dyer also went through and will face up against Cornish in round five tomorrow.
The Roxy Surf Festival had to go ahead without last year's champion Stephanie Gilmore who has sponsorship commitments and Chelsea Hedges, who will not be competing on tour this year after announcing she is pregnant.
