Big name surfers from across the globe are queuing up to support the campaign to restore the Kirra surfing spot to its former glory.
Wayne "Rabbit" Bartholomew and Joel Parkinson will be attending a fundraising event next week to show their support for the Kirra Business Group (KBG), which is producing a documentary for the campaign.
Neil Lazarow, of the KBG, said: "We have received funding for the project from the GCCM and South East Queensland Catchments yet we're still facing a shortfall of more than $7000 (£3,290)."
He added that it is "great" to see surfers and the general community "coming together to support a cause that is of benefit to the entire community".
The documentary will focus on the history of Kirra as a renowned surfing spot and its rapid decline due to a combination of factors.
Kirra Point is found on the Gold Coast and separates the Kirra beach to the north and the Coolangatta beach to the south.
