Surfer Dave Rastovich has said he intends to fulfil his obligations as patron for the Sea Shepherd Conservation Society (SSCS).
The professional free surfer and ocean activist will deliver a keynote address and preview his new Minds in the Water film at the Tropicsurf Summit at the Noosa Festival of Serving next month, reports Global Surfing News.
Although looking forward to testing his abilities on the waves at Granite Bay, Rastovich intends to deliver a message campaigning for the termination of whaling and dolphin slaughter, the article noted.
"I am looking forward to presenting the film, it’s something we are really proud of and is a great illustration of what we are about," he added.
It is hoped that the charity's message will appeal to a general trend of support regarding ocean issues among surfers, commented Kristine Vasic, SSCS director of events and media relations.
"Noosa will give us the opportunity to broaden our reach and spotlight recent events that many in the wider community might not have heard about," she added.
The SSCS is also currently campaigning against long lining and shark finning, seal hunts and the slaughter of Taiji dolphins.
