The best female surfers in the world are gearing up for the Roxy Pro Gold Coast which will mark the start of the 2008 ASP Women's World Tour season.
With last year's champion Chelsea Georgeson not competing as she awaits the birth of her first child, it is guaranteed that a new champion will be crowned.
Reigning ASP World Championship tour champion Stephanie Gilmore said: "I've just been relaxing a lot and I suppose I am still taking it all in from last year's win. I'm pretty confident heading into the Roxy Pro as it's right here at home, and I have just been surfing a lot – surfing a lot at Snapper and a bit at D'Bah."
She added that she has just got a fresh batch of boards from her shaper Darren Handley, so she has been "working pretty hard" to get them sorted out.
The trials for the event will start on February 22nd and will feature Sally Fitzgibbons, who has recently won the Roxy Surf Festival and is the ASP World Women's junior champion.
