Tiago Pires, the first Portuguese surfer to compete on the ASP World Championship Tour, has extended his contract with Billabong.
Pires, 28, has been with Billabong since 1999 but this is his first season on the WCT and he becomes Billabong's fourth surfer on the elite tour along with Andy Irons, Taj Burrow and Joel Parkinson.
"For the past nine years the company has really looked after me, especially the guys in Portugal, so I'm honoured to be continuing the relationship," said Pires.
He added that Billabong has an "amazing history" which he is proud to be part of and representing the brand has "always been important" for him.
Pires recently crashed out of the Quiksilver Pro at the second round stage at Snapper Rocks.
He was beaten by the Brazilian Leonardo Neves in the opening event of the World Championship tour.
The Quiksilver Pro was again postponed yesterday due to small swells.
