Just four heats of the Monster Energy Pipeline Pro were held today in small waves.
In the heats that were surfed the defending champion Jamie O'Brien, Dustin Barca, Fred Patacchia and Nathan Carroll all made it through from round four.
Jamie O'Brien said: "It becomes a lot more about luck when it's this small, but you can still put yourself in the right position to make the right thing happen. I definitely forced that wave. I made sure I stayed in there as long as possible, stuck my arm into the wave to slow down in the barrel and released it when I needed speed."
He added that he surfs there every day regardless of the conditions so he knows the reefs and knows "where it's shallow" and "where to be".
The Monster Energy Pipeline Pro is one of only two events which are held on the Banzai Pipeline which is famed for its huge waves and dangerous conditions.
A great range of Animal, Billabong, Roxy and Seafolly bikinis for 2007.
