Young surfing star Paige Hareb is to concentrate on the World Qualifying Series (WQS) this year after an "intense" few weeks of competition.
The 17-year-old New Zealander told Stuff.nz that she intends to focus on WQS this year, while also participating in the major international junior competitions.
"It's been a really intense opening six weeks or so to the season and it just couldn't have gone any better for me - I'm still trying to take it all in, and I am looking forward to getting home," the surfer said.
According to the news provider, Hareb finished runner-up in the World Professional Junior Championship in Sydney on the last day of 2007, before finishing in fifth place in the first WQS competition in Victoria.
The next Association of Surfing Professionals WQS events will take place at Soldiers Beach, New South Wales and Huntington Beach in California.
