Drew Courtney has won the Jim Beam Boardriders Cup National Title for the second time in three years in Australia.
Courtney also won the event in 2006 and excelled in four foot waves at North Narrabean Beach.
In the final, Courtney defeated Nathan Webster with a score of 15.1 compared to his rival's 12.3. He takes home cash and prizes worth $5,000 (£2,315) for his victory which was secured with a last-minute wave which scored 8.0.
The 2008 Jim Beam Surftag Series National Final gets underway today and top names such as World number-two Taj Burrow and World number-four Joel Parkinson will be competing for their respective teams.
Last year's winners were the local team North Narrabeen and the year before that the champions were Snapper Rocks.
Burrows and Parkinson have recently been competing at the Quiksilver Pro contest at Snapper Rocks with the former knocked out in round four and the latter falling at the quarter-final stage.
