The Hang Loose Pro Contest is set to go off in Brazil today, although conditions are expected to be poor at the start.
Later in the week and Thursday in particular is expected to be the best day for surfing conditions, when the top 48 surfers will enter the competition at the Cacimba do Padre Beach.
Pablo Paulino, who won the AS World Pro Junior Championship will be one of the surfers entering at the second round stage.
"I'm very happy with my result and to bring my second World Pro Junior title to Brazil, I hope that this title motivate the next generation of young Brazilian surfers like Petersinho, Milguel Pupo, Jadson Andre and others," Paulino told ASP World Tour.
He added that for him the contest is one of the most important of the year with surfers such as Bobby Martinez and Aritz Aranburu winning the contest in the past and going to qualify for the ASP WCT tour.
The previous WCT event, the Monster Energy Pro, was won by Pancho Sullivan.
