ASP World Championship Tour champion Stephanie Gilmore has admitted she is having difficulty finding time to surf while fulfilling her responsibilities as world champion.
Gilmore met with the Queensland premier Anna Bligh yesterday to pose for photographs.
"It's hard finding time to surf at the moment. I'm that busy, everyone wants a piece of the pie at the moment, but that’s all part of being world champ," Gilmore told goldcoast.com.
Mick Fanning, the men's ASP WCT champion was also scheduled to meet the premier for the photo shoot but pulled out.
He will begin the defence of his title at the Quicksilver Pro Gold Coast on February 23rd.
Ms Bligh described the two surfers as "great ambassadors" for the Gold Coast wished them "the best" as they prepared to defend their titles.
Gilmore became the first rookie in the history of surfing to win the ASP WCT title in their debut season last year.
