Tamaroa McComb has blasted his way through the top seeds to clinch a great victory in the Hurley Burleigh Pro Junior.
McComb beat Julian Wilson for the second time in the quarter finals before going on to take out the top seed Stuart Kennedy in the final.
"My win hasn't really sunk in yet. It feels great to finally win a Pro Junior event. Surfing against this calibre of guys really made my victory more special. It's such a great wave and I was just out there having fun," McComb told Surfing Australia.
The 16-year old Tahitian scored 7.83 and 8.93 to give him a 16.76 two-wave combination, beating Kennedy's 15.70 in the final.
It is the biggest win of McComb's career so far and it gives him 3,300 rating points for the ASP Australasian Pro Junior Series.
The Hurley Burleigh Pro Junior was the third leg of the 12-stop ASP Australasian Pro Junior Series.
